Toulouse FC (Toulouse Football Club) is a French football club based in the city of Toulouse. The club was founded in 1970, under the name of Union Sportive de Toulouse when another club of the same name folded in 1967. Currently, they participate in the top tier of French football, the Ligue 1.
In the history of Toulouse, there have not been any great accomplishments. They have won the Ligue 2 on two occasions, in 1982 and 2003. They have also participated in the European competition four times. They qualified for the UEFA Champions League in 2008, which was an impressive achievement as they had never done so in the past. In the season that followed, they played in the UEFA Europe League.
The home colours of the team are purple and white. The home games are played at the Stadium Municipal in the city of Toulouse. The club is managed by Alain Casanova, who is a former player. The club has been a sounding board for many successful players such as Fabien Barthez, Jérémy Mathieu and André-Pierre Gignac. Fabien Barthez has gone on to join clubs such as Monaco and Manchester United. He also played as a starting goalkeeper for the France national team during their win of the FIFA World Cup in 1998.
